Legality of advertising Marijuana online

There’s another thread on here about weed but I didn’t think it appropriate to post this in there.

And I’m not so sure it’s suitable for GQ. If it is and there is a definite answer then that’s great too.

So, I am a medical marijuana user in Colorado where I have all the proper credentials to shop at MMJ stores in that state. Consequently, at most of these places you can sign up for email and text messages of specials or any other news they want to share with you. Today, I started wondering about the legality of that type of advertising. What I mean is that currently I am in Arkansas working, so while those advertisements might be “legal” in Colorado they are essentially advertising across state lines. Here is an example email I received:

Any thoughts on whether these sorts of advertisements are against federal law?

well if it is illegal, you just threw them under the bus by putting up their business info here.
harsh, man.

They advertise the legal bordellos of Nevada online - and they are only legal in certain counties in Nevada (not legal in Clark County - greater metropolitan area of Las Vegas) - so as long as it is legal in the state/county where you are doing your business, why not?
