Anyone reading this? Is it any good?
I read it. I certainly enjoy the book, although I think it’s been better in the past than it is now.
But if you’re looking for an enjoyable comic book to add to your reading list, I’d definitely recommend it.

I used to be one of the biggest Legion fans, but I couldn’t stand the whole reboot thing. When you spend 15 years getting invested in characters and then suddenly none of what you know is relevent, it gets kind of annoying.
This series isn’t running anymore, correct? Isn’t there just the off-shoot series called “LEGION” now?
Yes, but I understand its got the entire LSH in it.
SolGrundy:
It’s called “Legion”, but it’s not an off-shoot, is IS the Legion of Super-Heroes. Just like DC has officially shortened the Justice Legue of America title to “JLA” and Justice Society of America title to “JSA.”
I’m actually surprised that they went with “the Legion” rather than “LSH”.
Maybe their contract with KFC expired or something…

“The Legion” isn’t an off-shoot, it’s a relaunch. (You’re probably thinking of the spin-off title Legionnaires, which is no longer published.)
When current writers Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning (“DnA”) took over the LSH, there were two titles (“Legion of Super-Heroes” and “Legionnaires”), both on the verge of cancellation. DnA wrote an excellent story called “Legion of the Damned” that rolled through both books and signalled that they were going to try to tackle the team in a more sophisticated way than what had been done in much of the past few years. A couple issues after Damned finished, both Legion books were folded and replaced with “Legion Lost,” a fantastic 12-issue mini-series in which DnA picked about a dozen characters who were lost in deep space. Imagine Star Trek: Voyager, but well-written. Once LLOST was over, it was followed up on by “Legion Worlds,” a six-issue mini which covered what had been going on with the legionnaires who hadn’t been lost. Finally, when Worlds was over, the new ongoing series The Legion launched, and is now about 20-some issues in.
As to the OP, I like “The Legion,” although I think it’s inconsistent. What DnA did throughout Damned, LLOST, and Worlds was pick one character per issue and really get inside their head. Since the relaunch, they’ve done this less frequently; sometimes it’s more of a classic team book, focusing on plot more than character. Sometimes it’s quite good, sometimes it’s somewhat boring. Also, the new covers are horrid.
I’d recommend it to people who like super-heroes as one of the better mainstream books out there, and every once in a while, one of the very best. Knowing your tastes, Alcibiades I don’t think you’d like it. However, if you managed to get your hands on LLOST or the issues comprising Legion of the Damned (neither of which appears likely to be collected), I’d definitely recommend those.

Do they still have Matter-Eater Lad?
For a while there was Legion of Super-Heroes, which featured whatever version had survived the Crisis and they were grim-looking adults in leather jackets at that point, and Legionnaires, which had the teenager clones of some of the older members.
It’s annoying that they keep rebooting every few years; it’s more annoying that they keep giving the book to people who write themselves into a corner so they have to reboot every couple of years.
Matter-Eater Lad, aka Tenzil Kem, hasn’t been a Legionnaire for since the Zero Hour reboot, but he was the Legion’s cook/counsellor ala Guinan for quite a while.
I’m liking Legion more now than I did for a few years. I too was saddened to see everything from the old continuity disappear. I grew up reading Legion since the early '70s and I really loved the Levitz/Giffen era.
Anybody care to bet on how much longer it is until Garth returns? I say within the next year.
Krokodil, it’s been nine years since the last reboot and it doesn’t look like there will be another one anytime soon.

Is Turkey Volume Guessing Boy still in the Legion? Or Princess Projectra? I stopped reading in the early 70’s, shortly after the Mordru fiasco. So I’ll need a comprehensive update.
Not to mention that it’s usually the writers of OTHER books writing the LSH/Legionairs/Legion writers into corners.
‘What do you MEAN you killed off the Green Lantern Corps?!?!’ ::Sound of 30 years of continuity getting flushed::
Is the major problem writing something set in the future of, and hinged on ongoing titles handled by other people.
(Maybe SolGrundy’s thinking of LEGION 199X (I think it ran from 1994 to 1999), which featured Braniac II and Lobo?)
I remember the Levitz/Giffen era with such fondness…
I even remember being able to read Interlac in my day.
By the way, did they ever bring back Wildfire after the reboot? He was always one of my favorites.
Also, has Arm Fall Off Boy made an appearance?
To help the “What was I thinking?” contingent, I was thinking of the book called “The Legion”. I’ve seen it and thumbed through the pages, but was under the impression that it wasn’t a continuation of LSH but an offshoot of it, like “Teen Titans” or “Birds of Prey” and all that.
Sounds like I’ll have to check it out. The Birnbaum/Giffen run of the series is one of my favorite comic series ever.
I started reading LSH forty years ago, and still have the entire collection.
Wildfire was recreated as TWO guys that merged as a being of energy. Dawnstar was brough back as a lovely charcter named Kari, who gave them (him?) the name of “Wildfire.”
Yes, Arm Fall Off Boy was at the Legion tryouts in a hilarious issue that had Lightning Lad saying of Dream Girl “A narcoleptic fortune teller? My head hurts.”
