Leprosy and feline appearance

In a lot of old fiction, when people with leprosy are being described, the afflicted have often been referred to as being feline in appearance.

Not that I think I’ve ever seen photos of leprosy before.

Are there any examples of this online?

Well, here is a pic of a young girl with leprosy. Can’t say she looks terribly feline in appearance.

I’ve never heard of this before, and from my personal experiecnes with lepers I can’t say any of them look like felines.

FTR, I do charity work in Nepal and see many, many lepers there.

Try Google for ‘Leonine’ and ‘Leprosy’, for instance:

“perhaps a leper really can’t change his spots, but he waits long enough, they’ll usually dry up and fall off”.
