So, people making out in the backseat of your rideshare vehicle is a typical/expected thing? I don’t know; I’m seriously asking. I guess sex is OK, too? Is this one of those “customer is always right” things? Somehow I don’t think so, but I don’t know about this world. Maybe I should start picking up hookers and hailing Uber/Lyft and do the business right there if that’s acceptable etiquette.
People being romantic with each other, doing what is legal and normal to do as displays of affection in public otherwise? Yes, that is a typical/expected thing, including between women, so much so that Uber has even included it as part of their past advertising - see the 15 second mark for romantic touching between women in the back seat as part of an Uber ad. (Aussies there but still.)
This is actually new for Uber, in the past there was a gay couple left on the side of the highway in Houston for kissing and a gay couple had the police called to remove them from the car for kissing in London, in both those cases Uber backed the drivers under their no physical contact rules. In this case Uber has blocked the driver. Maybe they draw the line somewhere between gay men and gay women.
SUber drivers require a license from the NYC Taxi & Limousine commission, who took a dim view of this particular bit of sexism and pulled the driver’s livery license. So I’m guessing Uber also banning the driver is to avoid a pissing match with the city.
Governments in general take a dim view of companies who claim they have a rule that applies to everyone, but then only enforce it against protected classes.
