I saw two awful movies this weekend: The Mummy, blah blah blah blah and The Midnight Meat Train. Only one of them was supposed to be dreadful. If I had the choice of seeing one of them again, I’d vote for the latter, despite the first having Michelle Yeoh in it. Who could have imagined Vinnie Jones to be a better actor in MMT that most of the cast in M3.
Does this even need to be said? Of course M3 sucks, it’s like saying that eating poo tastes bad. When a main member of a franchise bails out it’s time for the viewers to do the same.
I have not seen it, but some movies just don’t make good sequels. They suffer from more-of-the-same syndrome. Ghostbusters, Men In Black, The Mummy are prime examples, IMO.
I didn’t really care for The Mummy Returns so I decided to skip the third movie. I really enjoyed the first one though.

The Mummy 1 sucked as well.
I liked the first two so I saw this one today. It was pretty stupid. I mean, I knew going it that it’s the type of film you just have to accept at face value and watch, but I was hoping for the kind of fun humor that made the first film so enjoyable. This one just felt rushed together with a really poor story. And it didn’t help that the lead actress was awful, overacting every single line.
Once I saw that Rachel Weis wasn’t going to be playing Evie, I knew I wouldn’t be seeing that movie.
Rachel Weis was a great loss to the cast. We enjoyed it for the mindless drivel that it was. Lots of plot holes and less than stellar acting gave it a C for us.
See, I disagree. The Mummy (the first one of the series) was a good popcorn flick to see with friends to kill some time and absorb the CGI and cheesy acting. In short, it lived up to expectations and did what it was meant to do. You can go into anything with the wrong expectations and, more than likely, come away unsatisfied.* However, that says more about you than the thing that ‘failed’ you.
*(Every so often, you come away really impressed. Those are the moments you savor for a good while.)
I enjoyed the first two, but haven’t seen the Scorpion King, given the reviews here and the trailer that I saw last time I went to the cinema, I won’t be watching this.
My only expectation was to be entertained and it didn’t live up to that.
It actually has a scene where they discuss the merits of the Russian PPS submachine gun versus the Thompson. I have to give it at least that.
