At least my representative voted nay.
It didn’t do much good, but he did the right thing.

My representative, a Republican, didn’t show up. I can’t decide if that was a good or bad thing.
Was it Ron Paul? He’s a Libertarian in Republican’s clothing. He would have voted no.
My Rep, a Democrat, voted for this.
Yes Mr. Mollahan will be getting a letter from me on this one.
:wally
Nope. It’s Sam Johnson.
Just off the phone with an aide for Congressman Jackson.
Apparently, he voted “yea” b/c he couldn’t let someone starve to death. “it was a matter of conscience” says the aide. Hmm.
I sent an email to this aide–apparently, JJJr doesn’t have an email addy.
I am between a rock and hard place here–JJJr is pro-choice. So, I kinda hafta vote for him-seeing as how pro-choicers are scarce on the ground these days.
And again, I run up against this awful 2 party system we have. Dammit-I want choice politically.
<rant over>
I do feel better having let my views be known. Now, if only I knew for sure that somebody actually read that damned thing…
sorry for the highjack.
Thank you. And yes, by all means, paraphrase (or copy outright) away. Let’s hope it does some good.
Really? how does he live with the fact that it occurs all the time? Why is he not actively finding out all those other cases all over the country where force feeding is discontinued?
Just now on TV, the Schindler’s jackass lawyer is claiming Terri Schiavo’s religious freedom is being denied. :wally
They’re foaming at the mouth because the judge has taken it “under advisement” and has not ruled “immediately” to re-insert the feeding tube, and that Terri’s skin is beginning to crack!
You know, I’m starting to wonder. A neurologist who was with Terri for 10 hours says she can interact with people, that she was able to swallow, that she is aware. They’re calling Michael Schiavo everything but a child of God. Either Michael Schiavo has pulled a fraud on everyone and Terri is not in a PVS, or these people are completely delusional.
I’m starting to feel very sorry for Michael Schiavo. He will never have a normal life. I fear that after Terri dies, her parents will sue him for wrongful death.
Yikes.
Or a bunch of right to life goons will burn down his house.
I’d be sitting on the front porch with a shotgun and a pitcher of lemonade if I were him.
Why the lemonade? To throw on them?
I think he just wants a quiet, normal life. But Randal Terry is calling him a murderer and an adulterer and evil, that he withheld antibiotics and therapy from Terri after the malpractice lawsuit made him a millionaire, and that Terri is in there but Michael doesn’t want her to come out because then she’ll tell everyone how he abused her.
On second thought, maybe Michael can have a second career suing these people for slander/libel/defamation of character.
Isn’t Randall Terry a convicted terrorist?
Why does anyone care what he has to say?
For, as far as I can tell, the same reason people care what Osama says. He has followers, and a strong potential to commit violence.
No, for refreshment. I can’t get all parched while I’m defending the homestead.
I was browsing radio stations this afternoon and came across Sean Calamity (sp?). Yeah, I know. And he had Dr. Wilke, the National Right to Life Director, on the show which I will freely admit is one of the most biased people in the country.
Acc. to him, Mrs. Schiavo was not only responsive, but that she was actually re-learning how to walk. One nurse swears she saw Mrs. Schiavo feed herself. Says there are depositions from these folks, as well as depositions from nurses who testify that Mr. Schiavo refused treatment for UTIs, etc. and said that he should let the "bitch die. "
Now, once again, I realize that my information comes from a tenuous source, but it’s hard for me to reconcile the two sides. Either she is missing her brain stem and is in a vegetative state (as in, comatose and unable to speak, eat.) or she’s not. There is a profound difference (at least to me) between pulling the feeding tube from a woman who is, for all intents and purposes, dead and pulling the feeding tube from a woman who was in the process of being rehabilitated.
I’d love to know the truth.
I’ll tell you the truth. Mr. Schiavo is 17-0 in court, and those people you’re listening to are a bunch of loons that should be locked up.
Ooooh, I hadn’t heard that! Tell, tell!
I just Googled for Randall Terry, terrorist, and convicted. I can’t find anything necessarily reliable, although he appears to have been a convicted felon at least once or twice. Some people call him a terrorist but I don’t know that he’s been to court or jail over that.
Of course, he’s got his own website, www.randallterry.com, but I didn’t care to look at it.
The judge is apparently not rushing to a decision.
I especially liked this bit from CNN:
