Let's build a Straight Dope Christmas Spotify list

If this is like all the other Spotify threads I’ve started, it will go nowhere.
I’m going to build a Christmas playlist for the Straight Dope and need your help to build it.

You can pick at most 3 songs to add. “Christmas” is interpreted as any Winter Holiday song (so Xmas, Hannukah, Yule, etc.) or any wintery themed song.

Songs only meaning no traditional carols. We hear those all of the time and there are so many versions the playlist will have 15 versions of Jingle Bells.

No Christmas Shoes.

Songs must be available on Spotify (to add to the list).

You can talk about other Christmas songs you like but they won’t go in the playlist. They are honorable mentions.

Mrs. Cad’s choices. (Completely unfair she gets to add to the list)
Colorado Christmas by The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
Gabriel’s Message by Sting
Christmas Time is Here by Peanuts

My choices
One Little Christmas Tree by Stevie Wonder
Christmas is All Around by Billy Mack (Love Actually soundtrack)
Whatever Happened to Christmas by Frank Sinatra

Honorable Mentions
Best novelty song: Holy $#!T It’s Christmas by Red Peters
Best obscure song (and not on Spotify): Christmas Amoeba by Steve Lyon, the Doctor
And of course Rio by Duran Duran is a Christmas song but didn’t make my top 3.

Christmas At Ground Zero-Weird Al
A Christmas Carol-Tom Lehrer
Oh Come All Ye Faithful-Twisted Sister

As awesome as that sounds, that counts as a traditional carol so feel free to replace it.

Blue Christmas - Elvis Presley
Fairytale of New York - The Pogues
Ring Out, Solstice Bells - Jethro Tull

Christmas Wrapping - The Waitresses
Underneath the mistletoe - Sia
Father Christmas - Kinks

Christmas Wrapping – the Waitresses
Christmas at Kmart – Root Boy Slim and the Sex Change Band
Santa Doesn’t Cop Out on Dope – Martin Mull

How about Straight No Chaser’s “12 Days of Christmas”? It begins like it’s going to be the traditional carol*, but that doesn’t last long. The last verse in particular is a ton of fun. Can it count?

I’ll have to think about any others. Most of the stuff I listen to is the more traditional fare (though not all are carols).

*For some reason the original “12 Days” feels like a carol to me even though it isn’t remotely religious.

I’ll listen to that and TS’s Oh Come … when I get the chance to see.

I Believe in Father Christmas - Greg Lake

Same Olde Lang Syne - Dan Fogelberg

Cannot find this on Spotify.

The 12 Pains of Christmas - Bob Rivers
Mr. Heatmiser - Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
'Zat You, Santa Claus? - Louis Armstrong

Substitute his “Santafly,” then.

We are over an hour long now. Woot!
And the playlist is public so let me know if you have difficulty pulling it up.

I’m a big sucker for fun riffs on ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’.

Here’s one local to New Orleans, that came out in the late 1980s IIRC. No idea if it’s on Spotify:

P.S.: A "Yat’ is a local demonym meaning “New Orleanian”, derived from the once-common greeting “Where y’at!

It is. Are you including it as one of your 3 or is it an honorable mention?

Ninja’d Do you want another one?

I’m sure I heard that before. My high school graduation ceremony was in New Orleans and I was still in the area until the summer of '88.

Then, I shall submit the version by Bob & Doug McKenzie. “On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…a beer.”

Come Darkness, Come Light - Mary Chapin Carpenter
Something About December - Christina Perri
River - Joni Mitchell

On your list or honorable mention?
