I remember 1996 because I’v e been taping every OC and CC since 1984 when I was old enough to operate a VCR. And I remember how angry I was in 1996 at NBC’s terrible coverage and the ensuing flame wars on their website which subsequently had NBC shut down their chat rooms. Anyways you’d be willing to make a copy of your world feed? And for that matter, do you still have any connections in the industry that would allow you to get your hands on the 2004 world feed? I too can’t stand too much commentary and those commercial breaks, especially during an engaging moment or a song. Have these people no respect at all?? ARGH!
These jokes are nothing new. As far back as I can remember in 1996 they were at it too, with Bob commenting about one country (can’t remember which one) “and this country happens to be one of the poorest in the world”
About Cuba: “I wonder how many of their athletes will try to defect during the games?”
About Iraq: “the whole world was very upset when Iraq used poison gas against the Kurds in the North”
This kind of political talk during an a-political event like the Olympics is uncalled for, and such insults were just disgusting. The faqct they they keep bringing this guy back game after game only adds to the insult. Soon as It was clear NBC would be covering the Games again, my first thought was “oh great, more Bob Costas”
