And vaccines.
Eh, when I joined the board was basically swamped in political snark due to the Iraq War and other Bush administration foibles. Basically a lot of posters were determined to turn every thread into an Iraq War debate, regardless of how far that was from the original topic. I’d say that was about the nadir of the Boards level of discourse.
The internet evolves, and the SDMB has changed.
Pay2Post really did affect the basic personality of the board (imho), but goodness, that was a decade ago. It hasn’t been P2P for several years now, but these boards have continued to evolve. Less newbies, and many of the newbies that come around are trolls, socks, or weird. I like the weird, trolls bring the place down.
The changes in moderation and administration have contributed to changing this place, too. Some will say for the better, some not.
Bottom line: I still think Maryam d’Abo is smokin hot!
Coincidentally, my old garage band was called “Fluffy Twat”.
The level of discourse on this board has really gone down since yesterday at 4:07 PM EST.
And taking the lead out of paint.
Well, we know who to blame now.
Before all the black people, conservatives, gays, feminists, left wing pinkos, Jews, artsy fartsy types, mouth breathers, white supremacists, baby killing liberals, welfare queens, war-mongering Republicans, racist assholes, bible thumpers, Native Americans, Xbox players, and the like showed up we used to just walk around in togas debating in iambic pentameter, and composing sonnets.
I miss that.
Hey! Let’s go down to the quarry and throw Maryam d’Abo in!
and Olivia was hotter
I’ll tell you one thing, it’s definitely quieter. Nowhere near as much discourse, which makes me really sad.
Yeah, that is actually the truth
I’m sure people were complaining of it going downhill by June of 1999.![]()
Your mom has gone down on this board.
Let’s go to the quarry and throw this board down there.
I’d try to raise the discourse, but dasmoocher is only pawn in game of life.
I can multi-task.
Hey! I’ll buy you one, it’ll keep you out of our hair for a while.
