I think the problem there was diet not cell phone.
One of the more ridiculous claims I’ve seen someone make on the SDMB was a few years back in which someone posed the hypothetical “what would happen if all cell phones suddenly and permanently stopped working”. The actual answer, as even a moment’s thought will give, is that it would be a massive and unparalleled economic and societal catastrophe. But a few stubborn posters insisted that not only would there be minimal disruption, but that it would be a positive thing, and everyone would be all friendly and sociable and so forth.
It was bizarre.
