Let's list the crazy crap that's happened at county general

A patient who walked or fell onto the El tracks and was struck by a train is brought into the ER is worked on by the doctors. When the nurse pages the intern on call, the pager in the patient’s pocket goes off. The intern was the one who jumped/fell/was pushed in front of the train.

Romano brought his dog in to be operated on.

And don’t forget Carol’s attempted suicide on the very first show. She and Ross also helped the mother with the dying child overdose her son so he wouldn’t suffer anymore.

Luka also got malaria.

Good God! I certainly hope some action was taken against the parent for neglect! Leaving your kid in a car with it running is just begging for trouble to occur - as your anecdote so clearly points out.
As for E.R., I can’t quite recall if it was E.R. or even just something I dreamed - but wasn’t there an episode where a bunch of characters were on a hijacked plane, and after the hijackers bailed out (or where possilbly killed by the doctor / passengers), the doctors all had to bail out and leave a pilot-less plane to crash where-ever it may?

That was Gant (played by Omar Epps of House). He commits suicide because he can’t hack it in the ER. John Carter didn’t cover his ass to the attendings and feels guilty that he didn’t help him out. The last scene where Gant is talking to Carter is great…Gant has that beatific look of someone who has decided to kill himself: “No, it’s OK, I understand”.

Brilliant episode because up until the last two minutes it’s been a completely quiet night in the ER, with the nurses racing each other up and down the hall in office chairs, Carole and Doug Ross snuggling in an empty supply room,…and then when this hidouesly mangled patient comes in, they page Gant, the pager goes off and Carter realizes what’s up–“Oh my God, it’s Gant!” Brilliant.
