Let's make an A to Z list of names mentioned in song lyrics

As for you, Troy Donahue,
I know what you want to do…

Yes. I heard that song way too many times when my older sister went through her Madonna phase back in the day.

The song is about a teenage girl who gets pregnant and tells her father about it but wants him to know that she understands what she did was stupid so she needs his support, not his lecturing. Oh, and she’s not going to have an abortion. Madonna wrote the song around the time that teenage abortion started to become a significant news issue.

What’s her name?
Virginia Plain.

-Roxy Music

Very nice, but got a name beginning with a U?

Yeah, I know, it’s a hard letter in this game, right up there with X and Z. But still.

And break the laws that they should fear
And frighten all who see or hear
The cry goes up both far and near
for Underdog!

Rumor had it Wanda never knew who her daddy was
At least that’s what we spread all over town
I guess we always thought that we were building ourselves up
With the sticks and stones we threw to break her down
