Let's pit Dopers who engage in debate with Starving Artist

Can you dance like a monkey?

A randy, dancing pinata-monkey! Just what we need!

Yup. I’m afraid so. It surprised me at first, too.

The definition of racism has changed in the last few years to now mean “disagrees with liberals.” (see Lissener’s post adjacent to yours if you think I’m kidding.)

Personally, I think it’s too late to reclaim “racist” to mean anything other than non-liberal.

[Bill Hicks, doing Jack Palance in Shane] “Pick it up. Go ahead, pick it up!..” [/BH, RIP]

I realized that all was lost when they came out with a left wing hippy pot-smoking American Girl doll:

There’s the kind of person who gets beat as kid, and when he grows up he beats his kids for revenge.

Then there’s the kind of person who gets beat as a kid and swears to himself that he will never raise a hand to a child or allow a hand to be raised in his presence.

The difference comes down to nothing more than quality and character.
Seeing as you’ve been piled on before I guess we know what kind of person you are.

I see. So I’m a racist by proxy, eh?

Are you a rapist, a murderer or a pedophile? I mean after all, rape, murder and child abuse exist in today’s society. Do you think this time is defined by them? Do you believe the day should come when 2009 society is judged by them?

That’s what people who think like you do are doing with regard to the fifties. Racism was 175 years old in the fifties. The fifties didn’t cause it, but the fifties was full of people all over the country who saw the inhumanity in it once television brought the civil rights movement into their homes and they could see firsthand how people were being made to suffer by it. (And you might note that in these highly effective demonstrations, you saw black people dressed in their Sunday best and being polite and nonviolent. This is what brought brought their humanity home to most Americans – Americans who theretofore had given little thought to the matter because they scarcely saw black people in the first place, due to segregation.) The assumption was that blacks had their communities and whites had theirs, and most people had no idea that that arrangement was causing so much discontent and unhappiness among members of the black community. Once that started to become apparent, things began to change. (And you might also want to take note that that change didn’t involve Martin Luther King giving the finger to the camera and yelling “Fuck you!” at America.)

This you ask our advice on?

Oh, yeah. Wouldn’t mind it all that much even now.

Got it now. Thanks.

How can that be? Hippies aren’t Americans!

Did you know the 9/11 perps were safely based in the 1950s?

It was 1968. And only once. For about twenty minutes.

They came up because Barbarella just hit theaters.

Yes. There are at least three that I can think of.

Can I vote for you?

Your comment about Starving Artist being a racist simply because he thinks the 1950’s had a lot of good things going for it is exactly the kind of bizarre, non-factual, made-up-on-the-spot, divisive crap that would get anyone on the right smeared as a lying hater were we to say anything remotely as nasty about the left.

I can think of a few, but I never bothered to evaluate which among them were the stupider. Once they achieve stupidity, the degree doesn’t really matter.

So stupidity is binary in nature?

I like to think of it more as having passed an event horizon, the “event” in question being a party to celebrate your achieving of utter stupidity. This can take the form of a PETA march or a Republican Convention, as the case may be.

I don’t see how this is an accurate reflection of what he’s been saying here and elsewhere. He says a LOT more than that, and is thus a LOT more inflammatory than you portray it.

Now whether or not it’s racist is another thing entirely.

And the sentiments being expressed around here at the time I first went into all that, which were to the effect that the only way a person could be a conservative or a Republican was if they were evil to begin with, weren’t inflammatory?

I had posted here for roughly five years before I made my more serious charges against liberalism known. But you guys were so full of “evil Republicans this,” and “evil Republicans that,” that you were beginning to sound like a giant chorus of Der Trihs. So I thought the time had come to point out that you guys and what you’ve wrought has resulted in far more deaths and ruined lives than anything you had been accusing conservatives and Republicans of having caused.

People like you seem to forget, in your arrogant assumption that your way is the only way, that I see many times more things around here that strike me as outrageous and inflammatory than you ever do from me. And yet in your minds I’m supposed to just rock along here, being Mr. Moderate and not ruffling anyone’s feathers. (Either that or I’m supposed to ‘learn’ from you ).

Well, what good for the goose is good for the gander, and I think it’s hilarious the way so many people around here get so outraged over the very same type of behavior coming from me that they are completely oblivious to or couldn’t care less about when it’s coming from one of their own.

You don’t actually think it’s hilarious. You’re a lying pathetic self-pitying troglodyte with delusions of grandeur.
