Let's play six degrees of Kevin Bacon

Today, I was thinking about the game “6 degrees of Kevin Bacon” while running some errands. (For those that don’t know, it has been suggested that everyone in Hollywood can be connected to Kevin Bacon within 6 degrees.). So I picked two names out of the air that I thought would be pretty disconnected, and wanted to see if they were linked within 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon. I used John Wayne and Geena Davis.

So I thought it would be fun to try this out here. Pick any two actors and see if we can link them with Kevin Bacon within 6 degrees.

Rules:

  1. you can choose any two actors you want, alive or dead.
  2. you can link them only through movies, however you aren’t limited to just actors. You can also use directors, since directors would have contact with the two actors you are linking.
  3. as of now, only directors… No producers, writers, relatives, or anything else. If we need to change this, we can, but for right now, i’d like to keep this as simple as possible for everyone.

The person who answers the one out there gets to add the next one.

Whoever gets the current challenge, please show your answer, so we can all see it. Make sure it is 6 degrees or less.

If the answer the poster intended is different than the one someone else found, that’s fine. In a case like this, the original poster can come back in and show his/her solution as well.

Please pick one that has at lease one answer!

Have fun, everyone. If there is something unclear, just ask. This should be fairly easy as far as rules go.

To summarize.

  1. two actors, dead or alive
  2. must link actors through Kevin Bacon by using Movies and/or directors ONLY
  3. answer must be 6 or less degrees
  4. supply your answer in a post
  5. person who answered, please supply the next pair of actors.
  6. make sure your pair has an answer.

First pair:

John Wayne and Geena Davis

John Wayne was in McQ, from 1974, with an actor named Leslie Carlson.

This Leslie Carlson was in The Fly, from 1986, with Geena Davis

Charlton Heston and Lon Chaney

This doesn’t work. You have to go through Kevin Bacon to make the chain work. (Hence the name of the game)

Shoot. Sorry about that. I’ll go back and look some more.

John Wayne was in How the West Was Won with Eli Wallach who was in Mystic River with Kevin Bacon

Kevin Bacon was in She’s having a Baby along with Alec Baldwin who was in Beetlejuice with Geena Davis.

Assuming that’s correct - Dakota Fanning and Boris Karloff

Boris Karloff was in The Terror, with Jack Nicholson.

jack Nicholson was in A Few Good Men with Kevin Bacon

Kevin Bacon was in Trapped, with Dakota Fanning

Alan Hale and Charlton Heston

That’s Alan Hale, not Alan Hale, Jr.

I’ll give a hint, my solution has four links.

Well, it looks correct, but my solution was different.

John Wayne was in the Shootist with Ron Howard.
Ron Howard Directed Kevin Bacon in Apollo 13
Kevin Bacon was in Apollo 13 with Tom Hanks
Tom Hanks was in A League of Their Own with Geena Davis

Having seen Six Degrees of Bergerac, I don’t think this is difficult enough.

You better come back and provide a solution or this thread will be moving quite slowly. Is Kevin Bacon one of those links?

For the Bacon-lovers among us: Hello Kevin Bacon! - Cafe Society - Straight Dope Message Board

Okay. I found the connections when I just picked those two names out of the air, and looked for how they related to Kevin Bacon.

Alan Hale was in a movie titled On Your Toes with** Eddie Albert**.

**Eddie Albert **was in The Big Picture with Kevin Bacon.

Kevin Bacon was in JFK with Mark Edward Walters.

And Mark Edward Walters was in Any Given Sunday with Charlton Heston.

Well, that is impressive. Alan Hale to Charlton Heston…

Baker, did you figure that out before posting, or did you give those two actors and then go back to see if you could connect them?

Does someone want to put another one up, or shall I?

I’ll check back later. If no one adds a new one, I will.

As I said in my post, I picked those two names out of the air. Charlton Heston was one of my favorite actors, and Alan Hale was a character actor in a million films. For him I rather figured he’d get connected through Errol Flynn, because they were in so many movies together. For example, he was Little John, to Flynn’s Robin Hood.

Bumping…

Clara Bow and Keira Knightley.
