Inspired by Cal Meachum’s thread. Let’s rewrite Beowulf in Limerick form. All I ask is that we try to stick as close to the plot as possible. Please bold and indent your verse, so time comes to compile all of them, it will be easier to find.
A beast named Grendel thought noise
From the mead hall Heorot annoys
So to Hrothgar the Dane
He would cause such great pain
And turn his men’s skulls into toys.
::))) bla bla bla about nothing :))) sorry
A monster both fearsome and terrible
Found the Danes down in Heorot scarible.
He stomped and he smoted
And wildly emoted
In a rhyme scheme completely unbearable.
What rhymes with Hwæt?
Grendel killed the warriors in their sleep,
And trashed the hell out of Heorot deep,
But for Heorot’s throne,
Which he left alone,
For the powers that guarded it were steep.
