Now I enjoy running and I try and do 3-4 miles every other day–but damn. That is a hell of a lot of running–very Forrest Gumpish. I have to say I think it has a lot of OCD tied in there too, it seems your whole life is taken over. Just ran across this story and thought I would share it.
Heh, I saw that today on TV- it was interesting.
Crazy and nuts, but who am I to judge him?
I wish him the best.
:dubious: Even walking 8 miles is only 2 hours per day, and I assume he’d be going faster than that. That still leaves plenty of time for other things.
But if you read the article–he doesn’t really do anything else. He is worried that something else will hurt him and then he can’t run. So he gets up, runs and then goes home until the next run the next day. Here is a quote out of the article
“Here, he will spend the rest of the night and the next morning avoiding any activity that could jeopardize his streak”
Hey I don’t begrudge the guy anything and he seems like a real nice guy if you watch the video. What a beautiful place to run–florida beach, what isn’t to like. But it seems it has become an obsession and not something he does for enjoyment. When I hurt, I don’t run, if I am sick, I don’t run…he does. No matter what which seems very OCD to me. That run has taken over his life in my opinion.
