So I was messing around with StumbleUpon today and it took me here.

Neat little idea. You write an email to yourself, and they’ll deliver it to you in the future. It can go as far as 30 years ahead. Personally, I wonder if the site will still be running at that point.

Anyway, I was thinking we should create our own little time capsule. Maybe just dash a few things off to yourself, date it for a few years from now, and we can have a little reunion and share what was going on in each of our lives in 2007. That is, if you all plan to be around the Dope in a few years. I can’t be sure, but I’ll wager a good bet I’ll be willing to re-up to post about my email from the past.

I think we should try to agree on a date to which to send our emails before we start. It’s a tough call. One year isn’t really a very significant amount of time, yet if we wait ten years, there’s not a good chance that very many of us will still be around to participate in the future thread. I’m gonna go ahead and suggest that we send them ahead five years.

So, anybody else in? Got any suggestions? Feel free.

This web site is at least a few years old. I hope this hasn’t been done on the Dope before. I ran a search, but came up with nothing.

I’ve done this sort of thing before, and I always thought it was a neat concept. There’s lots of stuff going on in my life right now that’s stressing me out, that I’m sure in 5 years will seem trivial. I’ll be fun to see how far I’ve come in 5 years, assuming my life isn’t a complete wreck then. Hear that future self? You better have your life together!
