Now, if the theory was that lizard aliens crashed at Roswell, or that the pyramid on Mars was built by lizard aliens to signal the Masons, I’ll sign up. (ETA - the reptilians and the masons are working against each other obviously, the stuff on Mars is more a warning than a signal)

If you had asked me a couple of years ago, I would have probably said 9. The fatal head shot always looked to me like it came from the front. Then I read somewhere that if you do a frame by frame comparison that his head moves forward before it moves back. When someone posted a stabilized version of the zapruder film, I actually placed a yellow sticky on my screen and watched the motion of his head over and over and over and over. The conclusion I came to was that he was shot from behind and his head moves forward and spins around (still being attached to the neck and all) so that it looks like it snaps back. IMHO the fatal shot came from behind. I see no evidence at all of a 2nd shooter on the zapruder film.
Did Oswald get any help at all from anyone else? Eh, maybe. I’m not convinced that he did, but I won’t say for certain he didn’t either. The conspiracy folks are a long way away from proving their case to me on this one.

I have to qualify this one. The government takes in huge amounts of “knowledge”. Some of it is accurate, some isn’t. Someone has to wade through all of the crap and figure out if they really have something in all the muck that they’ve collected or not. Hindsight is 20/20. If you go back and look, they had enough info to put together the 9/11 plot. But, no one in the government had managed to put it together and prove that it wasn’t just some random BS thing.

I believe princess diana’s accident was caused indirectly by paparazzi. It wasn’t a simple oops under normal driving conditions, but it wasn’t anything intentional either.

- The “US Government” is a big place with lots of people. I’m quite positive that all the information needed to prevent the tragedy was available, however, it was viewed from, well, a pre-9/11 perspective.

I mostly don’t believe that these things can be pulled off without information leaking out. People just can’t keep secrets that well. However, the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa has been a well-kept secret, so this lends a little credance to the possibility - which is why I gave JFK and Diana 1s.
There are real conspiracies. The CIA has been involved in a number of them and probably still is. The Iran-Contra scandal was a bizarro page turner in particular. There are secret government intelligence agencies as well (or at least were). The NSA had a big secret building outside of DC for years before congress even knew that the agency even existed.
I’m surprised at all the non-zero votes for the Diana conspiracy theory. Can’t see who would have had a reason, or the disposition, to bump her off. It’s not like she was a significant political figure, she was really just a tabloid celebrity. Even if you did want to get rid of her, engineering a situation in which she might, with a bit of luck, get killed in a car crash seems like a strange way of doing it.
The JFK one is the only one I would give a number to (maybe a 5).
The Diana one seems idiotic because it was a car wreck and it required a drunk driver flying around at insane speeds for it to happen. Even then, one person lived because he had on his seatbelt. The driver was the only one that could set up those conditions and he would had to sacrafice himself while taking a risk that everyone would be injured rather than killed.
Tell me about it. And to think all you needed to start the thing up was 2 cups of water and a pill that’ll turn the water into pure hi-octane unleaded gasoline.

10. It was conceived of by the CIA because JFK wanted us out of Viet Nam. They used their brain control technology stolen from aliens (see #3) to convince Oswald to go into the book depository. Then they used the Mafia connections to get Ruby to kill Oswald. Anyone can see it. -

10. Of course I am mainly referring to Apollo 11. All subsequent missions were real. We had the technology to get to the moon but the lunar module was not ready in time for the actual launch date. Instead, NASA launched another Surveyor probe in order to fool the Soviets. The government used Hollywood people who had been blacklisted in the ‘50’s because they needed people who were 1) not trusted by the general public and so wouldn’t be believed if they squealed and 2) were desperate for the work.
Apollo 13 was another studio event. People were bored already and we needed to boost ratings. -

10. Everyone knows that a Reticulon scout ship crashed in New Mexico. Aliens had been studying us for centuries but they became concerned during World War II when humans began working on atomic weapons. The Reticulons attempted to use their mind control technology on Hitler and Stalin but it drove them deeper into paranoia and it induced a stroke in Roosevelt. Since Truman had not been contacted, he went ahead with the Manhattan Project.
After the war, the aliens were monitoring the test sites in New Mexico when we shot down their ship (it was an accident and the Reticulons accepted our apology after we promised that they could continue with cattle mutilations and anal probings of hillbillys) . Some alien technology was easily adapted (stealth materials, lasers, computer circuitry, Velcro) while others took more time or stayed under government control (the afore-mentioned mind control, invisibility cloaks, defensive force fields, hyperdrives, high-efficiency non-polluting energy sources, compact disks).

10. But not the way everyone thinks! The Reticulons admitted that the “face” was created by aliens but it wasn’t them. It was actually created by the Phigammians, who are intergalactic frat boys. The Phigammians put it on Mars about 65 million years ago to get the attention of other races about a great party they were going to hold on Earth. There were going to be T. Rex hunts, Triceratops rodeos and pterodactyl hang-gliding. Unfortunately, the party ship crashed on Earth, spreading debris around the planet and wiping out the dinosaurs. The good thing though was that the Phigammian genetic material was infused into the terrestrial ecosysytem which enhanced the intelligence and survivability of the small mammals. -

This situation was seen as an insult to the monarchy and French (a former British princess marrying an Egyptian in a French landmark? Mon Dieu!). The Queen got the SAS to work with their counterparts in the1er RPMIa to pose as paparazzi and force the Mercedes into the tunnel column.
