Lewis Vs. Klitschko - Give me a Fuckin Break!

come on, this shows why fights have not been fought in LA for all these years…

???

Boxing commission for fucking pissing on our parade,

Sure Lennox was the favorite, but why would anyone stop a

Fucking Boxing Match because there is blood…
Is not the point of Puglisism a bit of bloodletting and skill-showing,
Christ I hope that they turn the Staples Center in to a Wallll Marrrt

Goes to Show why there have been no fights in LA since wayyy back when?

So who won?

Lewis, because the fight was stopped after the 6th round. Klithsko was ahead on all cards.

Did you see the size of that cut? All the commentators were saying they should have stopped the fight in the second round, but they let it go through six. I enjoyed the fight, but I’m glad someone stepped in before Klitschko had permanent damage in his eye.

Jiminy Chistmas,
A fighter is BLEEDING,
Let’s end the Fight,
Sorry if I am slow, but I thought that the idea in boxing was to FIGHT

I could see the point if the fighter who is bleeding stopped the fight ,

But in this case…

The thing I just heard on ESPN was that when the doctor examined Klat … Klot … Klit … the white guy, his vision was hampered by the drooping eyelid. Therefore it was determined that he couldn’t protect himself adequately.

Whatever. I think it’s a dumb sport to begin with, but if they’re going beat the snot out of each other, they ought to let them do a thorough job of it.

I only say this because obviously Klitschko wanted to continue, and blind in one eye or not it should be his choice, especially cause the champ wins in the proverbial TKO

Dumb Sport - An Oxymoron?

How is “dumb” and “sport” in opposition?

It doesn’t matter. It’s the job of the authorities to stop the fight if they deem the fighter unable to fight anymore for health reasons, whether the fighter wants to continue or not.

And it wasn’t because he was bleeding. Bleeding happens all the time and they don’t stop the fight. It was the gaping hole above his eye.

Let us look at…
Foot-Ball - where the players’ feet seldom touch the ball
GoLF - Where hushed voices proclaim that a lousy camera shot that jerks into the stratosphere is pretty much the summation of human accomplishment

Oxymoron – I do not think that word means what you think it means.

As Max Kellerman said later on SportsCenter, Vitaly’s eye was almost hanging out of its socket. Whaddya want? Permanent blindness? That fight would have been stopped in any boxing jurisdiction, not just in California.

Geez, I thought this thread was going to be about how bad the fight was. Every commentator I’ve heard so far has said pretty much the same thing–Lewis fought like he was 87, not 37, and Klitschko didn’t fare much better (though better than Lewis, and was leading on at least one card). Bert Sugar, who’s seen just about every title fight since, oh, 1945, thought it was one of the all-time worst. For that you can say gimme a fuckin’ break.

Did you actually watch this fight?

As far as heavyweights this was one of the toughest fights that I have seen in a while ---- (purely subjective) —
I might postulate that you are reading some smack off some Web page (Vitaly’s eye was almost hanging out of its socket) …

I do think that he had A Large Gash just below his eyebrow…

This impeded his vision to an extent, However Klitschko seemed to be ready to fight at least a bit more,

If he could not see, wouldn’t he be the best person to decide when he can’t fight?

Err Duke I think you didn’t see it correctly, his eye was fine. It was the skin above the eye that had a big cut. After the fight he showed that he could see very well out of both eyes when he was interviewed.

The boxer with the injury? :dubious: Naah. That would lead to dazed fighters making rash decisions.

It’s just a game in the end. If he goes blind or bleeds out in the ring, that’s a bit too gladatorial for my tastes.

A semi-quote (I can’t remember exactly how it was phrased): “When the doctor held a finger in front of Klitwhatever and told him to follow it, he had to turn his head to see the finger because the eyelid was in the way. If he couldn’t see a person in front of him, he surely couldn’t see a punch.”

Eh, like I say … don’t seem like such a big deal for two people bent on maiming each other.

I am not a scholar of Boxing, but please, what is your point and what is this reference?
I mean I an just a Youngster who watches a bit once and again, if you are going to make shit up or talk about one-hundred year old shit – please make your own thread…
