Cheesesteak, are you telling me that this business from the RNC is the first time you’ve ever heard the term “news” in relation to information about Jesus?
It means, “We want to keep Christians aware that only one major political party is a legitimate recipient of their votes by explicitly adopting a Christian message on a Christian holiday.”
And this means, “Remember, Christians, the other major party thinks you’re idiots!”
I regard both as insulting, quite frankly.
I don’t see any actual “outrage”, but I agree that the message is innocuous, and most of the opposition and criticism is for strategic political purposes. I also think the message, and similar explicitly pro-Christian messages from a political party, are probably unwise in the long term as America becomes less Christian.

That’s absolutely what a lot of them believe. I know I’ve heard something similar from many of them directly. Or if God commands it. That’s why dashing the heads of children on the rocks in the OT was “moral”.
