I’m oldish too (75) but evidently the 2009-10 swine flu pandemic was the only one that made an impression on me. For some reason I wasn’t paying attention in 1976. If I got vaccinated then I don’t remember anything about it, not even the controversy.
Thanks.
Insulin shots are not really painful.
Like I said its the idea more than the needle being large or not.
It’s unnatural to poke yourself.
The finger sticks can be incredibly painful. They’ll get little infections that are aggravating.
I’ve had numerous tiny needle prick infections. They hurt like a red and sore pimple. I’m about as careful as I can be with the alcohol swabs and hand washing. But shit happens.
I now have a CGM and insulin pump.
I still have to do other things with insulin occasionally. I’m on 2 other regular sub-q injections.
So needles are a permanent part of my life.
(ETA, the CGM is not painless to put on. Sometimes it feels like someone stabbed you, I’ve found if I count the seconds off it doesn’t hurt as bad because I’m concentrating on relaxing that area)
I remember waiting in a long line with my Dad to get the 1976 flu shot with a jet injector. My other memories of it are that I thought it looked like a Star Trek type II phaser pistol, and that there was more blood involved than a regular injection.
We did scoliosis checks in 6th or 7th grade in the boys’ locker room during PE, so we all had to take our shirts off and wait in line.
You need a pretty big gauge to inject all of those Bill Gates WiFi microchips.
