Lie To Me 01/28 -- "Moral Waiver"

I didn’t see another thread for this. You can watch the episode here.

Tim Roth is great in the lead. Very entertaining to watch.

I like the concept behind the show. It’s great to watch someone who can tell when everyone is lying. The part where he guesses the CEO of some tech company is lying about their profits was pretty nice.

I don’t like the rest of the cast yet. They still seem one dimensional even after two episodes.

Though it does seem like the writers are going to be subtle in bringing out everyone’s problems. That’s a good sign. Towards the end of this episode we learn that Cal is still ashamed about a mistake he has made in his past. That’s a classic sign of a perfectionist and Cal is very good at what he does. So I have high hopes for the writing and I’ll give this a few more episodes.

Showing despair on a picture of Sarah Palin was also a good moment.

I have only seen the first episode so far. Tim Roth is good in the lead, but I expect nothing less of him. Has he ever been bad in anything? The side characters are thin as paper walls and the secrets revealed have been very… Sensational. I think they can turn it down a notch without sacrificing too much.

The pilot was writing the viewer on the nose a bit too much for my taste and some of the interactions were a bit cliche. But all in all I like the concept and I’m curious to follow the progress of this show.
