That said, self respect has to be in there somewhere. It’s bad to keep score and make sure everything is zero sum, but if you can reflect on your relationship and realize you’ve given a lot and the other person never gives – it is fair to evaluate whether continuing with the relationship is good or not. There’s a whole continuum between expecting everything to be equal and being a doormat or The First National Interestless Bank of Boyfriend (or Girlfriend) to your SO.
Of course, a relationship that’s already failing or over is probably the worst time to try to diagnose this because you’re more than a little biased by that point.

I was in the French Riviera once at a five star restaurant. I ordered Maine lobster. Supposedly these bugs were flown in fresh from Maine that very day.
As the meal ended I found out these lobsters were actually from Canada.
Ruined my year and people were fired and careers ended ! Let me tell you!

Sorry to hear all that Rushgeekgirl - I had a car crash on Sunday and now every time I’m about to fall asleep I’m jolting awake with headlights coming at me, or I’m yanking some small child out of the way of danger. Hoping I will slide through this one, that PTSD shit is fucking exhausting.
