That reminds me, I have an old 3 way floor lamp with the large base. Better buy up the bulbs while I can. And while I’m at the hardware store I need to buy a switch for the 2 bulb CFL lamp. I wonder if the little curly bulbs have the same spike voltage as the old tube bulbs.
Did you put 60’s in place of the 75 watt bulbs. For the longest time I looked for multipacks of the 70 or 75-watt equivalent and nobody sold them. I suspect everybody tried the 60’s because of the bulk-pack price. I say this as I look up at the ceiling lamp that once shown so brightly.
I think the kitchen took two 40 watts, and I think I replaced them with two CFs supposed to be equivalent to 60 watts probably, but they sure didn’t perform even like regular 40 watts.
Like I said before, I feel kind of scammed on the CF thing and am in no hurry to buy more until I have no choice, and then I guess I’ll have to go for whatever is brightest. I’m thinking, “equivalent to 200 watt.”
Oh Christ, I agree with RTFirefly and I’ve been doing the same thing at my house. Now I bet we’re both depressed.
Legislation in such places as Australia and California to phase out incandescent lights should catalyze an improvement in florescent lighting technologies.
P.S. How many of you have bought natural light (close to sun’s spectrum) CFs? I’m looking at naturallighting.com right now.
No prices on the site. How much does a natural sunlight 75watt equivilant cost?
