Anyone want to explain to me the tactical advantage of this one?
Count Dooku, the protagonist in Episode II (when he’s not playing Saruman in the off-season) has a CURVED lightsaber. The blade is still straight, but the handle has a pronounced arc to it. Exactly what advantage would this give him in battle?
Or is Lucas just running out of creative lightsaber ideas? I mean, Maul’s lightsaber was fun, but there’s really nowhere to go after that…
Speaking of creative lightsabre ideas, I noticed a certain Jedi uses two lightsabres at the same time in Episode II. Ah-ha! Now why didn’t anyone else think of that?
Maul’s lightsaber is actually two sabers fused together. Dark Horse Comics published a short story, “Resurrection,” in Star Wars Tales #9 in which Vader fights Maul (or his clone…or whatever). In the course of the fight, Maul’s saber is split in the middle…which looks great for Vader, until Maul reignights both ends independently. It’s one of those great “oh crap” moments.
(On the other hand, the story was declared apocryphal, so I guess nobody HAS thought of it yet.)
