Like John Carter? Got A Kindle?

I downloaded a 5 in 1 deal last night for .99 cents. Just put in Edgar Rice Burroughs and it came up. It begins with his origins and alludes to the Princess of Mars.

Not being familiar with the books, I’m not sure if I have the absolute beginning, but I am enjoying the read.

Thanks

Project Gutenberg’s free offerings

Princess is #1 and is public domain.

zombiewoof,

I did go to Project Gutenberg’s site and found those books, but when I went to download, all that came up was a bunch of code gobbledigook> Can you or someone tell me what I’m doing wrong? Can those books just go directly to my Kindle?

Thanks

Q

Download the .mobi version of the book to your computer. Then hook up your Kindle and move the file from your computer to the Kindle. Easy peasy.

I like that easy peasy part!

Thanks, silenus!

Sorry, but I may have misunderstood something, silenus: Once I downloaded, it sent everything to Word Pad, but it was still all in code. Does that matter?

Sorry

Q

Five books for less than a cent? Hardly need to bother looking for free stuff, then.

When you click on “download” at Project Gutenberg, the menu should say “Find, save, cancel.” Hit Save which will give you the “Save As” window. Go to Desktop and save the file there. No need to open it at all. Then hook up your Kindle and drag the file to the documents folder on the Kindle. Disconnect and you should be good to go.

eta: I just checked and **all **of ERB’s Barsoom books are free from Amazon for Kindle. Just go there and download directly to your pad.

Another way to get the .mobi file onto your Kindle (as an alternative to using the USB cable) is to send it as an attachment to the “@free.kindle.com” email address associated with your Kindle.

I suspect they rounded .99 cents up to an even penny.

If your Kindle has a browser you can download directly from Project Gutenberg.
