That’s your suggestion, but that’s not how like/kudos systems are implemented on any messageboards I know of, and you weren’t the only one proposing like/upvote/kudos systems…
Maybe it’s the fact that you act as though you’re the be-all and end-all of what is and isn’t gamification? As though the rest of us are ignorant about what it is (and isn’t)

The issue is about those (older) poor elements of gamification design, which even gamification proponents have dropped as poor design choices, like leaderboards and other scorekeeping elements.
My question was about how this is functionally different. Yes, hidden thanks systems would be great, but like I said, that would be novel and (AFAIK) not built into the Board software.
