I have Limewire (yes, I have the legit version, and YES, Limewire is considered to be legal). However, for some reason, now, no matter what I do, my firewall keeps blocking it-I take it off the list of exceptions, I put it ON the list of exceptions-but it still won’t let it through. What the HELL?
I have LW version 4.18.2, and I’m using Windows XP.

I had the exact same problem. It started right out of the blue. No matter what I tried, nothing worked. I even tried getting an older version from this site. That didn’t even work. So I uninstalled it and tried Limewire’s “brother” – Frostwire. It works perfectly fine with no issues with my firewall.

Also, are you sure it’s being blocked by the firewall, and if so how? Are you using a router? Maybe you need to forward ports.

Answering these questions may help solve your problem.
I have problems with Limewire out-of-the-blue as well. I believe it is blocked from my ISP because I didn’t make any changes in my firewall or router settings.

Probably it’s just me, but I’ve had problems lately where my piece of shit router apparently randomly decides to stop forwarding to the ports I specify until I cycle power on it. Couldn’t hurt to try cycling power on your router if you haven’t already. And in my case, simply restarting it doesn’t fix it; I have to remove power.

I could have written this except I never tried the older version. Is it an ISP problem? I have Comcast. I also am using Vista.
