Lindsey Lohan on That 70's Show....blech

That 70’s Show is one of those sitcoms I enjoy, but no one will ever call it an all-time great. In the Just Shoot Me category of long lasting sitcoms that didn’t reinvent the wheel, but always provided a nice laugh after a tough day.

But last night’s episode may have been the worst episode I have ever seen. And all thanks to Wilmer Valderama’s (Fez) real life girlfriend, Mean Girls’s Lindsey Lohan.

She was terrible and her presence on the show seemed to alter the chemistry of the rest of the cast.

Valderama seemed to be acting different on the show because his girlfriend was there. And I don’t know if the rest of the cast was put off by her presence in what amounted to a vanity role, but everything was just off.

Lohan was also terrible in the role (which was weak as are most vanity roles).

She was great in Mean Girls, but I think she has been reading her own press clippings lately.

It reminded me of an article on Topher Grace in this week’s Entert. Weekly. Grace, who never appears in the tabloids, said it really hurts an actor to be overexposed. It was a good article and hit the Lohan situation dead in the eyes.

It is clear she has talent. She has been in two movies applauded by most critics. But when she feuds with Lizzie Maguire, has to go the hospital for “exhaustion” or whatever nondescript excuse, or appears at every club in the tabloids, you lose the ability to think of her as her character.

It makes for a less than entertaining half hour.

When she looks that amazing, she’s allowed to be a terrible actress.

You were probably stunned by the presence of an actual teenager on the show. Even Mila Kunis is now 21.

Other than that, I thought it was a better than average episode for Fez, she barely had two lines to speak, and IIRC she came out of the hospital just for the taping. And the show badly needed a redhead again.

Y’know, I browsed that FHM with the newly-blonde Laura Prepon, and maybe it’s not the hair but that I haven’t watched the show regularly since the first couple seasons when she looked a lot more kid-like, but va-va-voom!

I saw Lindsey Lohan on SNL a couple of months ago, and didn’t think much of her. She’s cute, yes, but that seems to be about all she has to work with.

The SNL cast apparently didn’t have a very high opinion of her, either, as her roles in the skits were quite limited: walk around in a half-open shirt, laugh on cue, scream on cue. They even did 90 percent of her opening monologue for her.

Ugh. I was appalled when Laura Prepon went blonde. First Brittany Murphy, then Prepon … do these women really believe they won’t get anywhere in showbiz without being blonde—without, IOW, looking like everyone else?
