Are you speaking of the cake that appeared to be made of used tampons?

I got through a dozen posts of people describing what they wouldn’t see before I decided I didn’t want to continue reading this thread - much less see something disturbing (no offense to the OP - it’s an interesting thread topic).

Was that the baby cake? (After it had been half eaten.)

Here is the link to the Cake Wrecks baby cake, just to save everyone else the trouble of going through the site trying to find it.

A little late there! I just went through the CakeWrecks trying to figure it out and was just about to ask if it was the baby cake.

Looks delicious btw.

I realised Lotus Boob was a composite from the very first glance at it (because I already knew exactly what lotus pods look like), but that didn’t stop it being a disturbing photo - because of what it suggests, no matter how realistically it portrays the suggestion.

NHK (national terrestrial TV network) showed it casually during a weekend afternoon, when I was living in Japan in 1992. It haunted me for ages.

I’ve never seen 2 Girls 1 Cup, nor will I. I’ve seen goatse and tubgirl, and wish I hadn’t. Ditto the weightlifter with the prolapsed rectum and the pic that’s supposedly the aftermath of a motorcycle accident but is in actuality a botched shotgun suicide attempt.

I’ve never seen Bud Dwyer, and won’t. I have a hard time with anything moving that involves real people (video, I mean). Still photos don’t bother me that much. I used to spend a lot of time on rotten.com many years ago, but you couldn’t pay me to watch Faces of Death.

Oh, and forget animal cruelty. No way, no how. Especially anything involving cats. Watching someone hurt a cat would put me right over the edge. Watching someone hurt most other types of animals (things like fish don’t bother me that much) would be close, but cats are the worst. I made the mistake of watching the vid of the two kids messing with the cat a few months back (the one that some big group–4chan maybe?–ended up tracking down the kids and getting them in a heap of trouble) and I still wish I could scrub the vision from my brain. And that cat ended up all right.

Oh, and lotus boob? Doesn’t bother me a bit. I think it’s creepily fascinating.

Not the cake I was thinking of. The OP to this thread has a link to the used tampon cake. Except it’s not used tampons, it’s something else

I was referring to the baby cake. The dead shark one, to me, is more :dubious: than .

No beheadings, No animal cruelty or tub girl, lemon party, goatsie, people falling from the towers.

Been on the web since 1995. Ran into goatse by accident (once and only once), and have thankfully never seen 2G1C or tubgirl. (The Wiki descriptions alone are quite enough, thank you.) Lotus boob didn’t bother me too much, as it was clearly fake. And the only reason I saw it is that I used to browse Snopes.com.

I have to say, in reading this thread, I’m both encouraged and impressed by how many posters have described having what to me is admirable character and integrity about this sort of thing. (Granted, SDMB members are certainly a cut above on intellectual matters, so it’s not altogether surprising that y’all display good ethics, too.)

I enjoy a lot of “dark” or “subversive” things, even some art forms that are considered provoking or transgressive. But I refuse to watch, look at, or listen to anything that…

-heavily involves or celebrates actual suffering*, whether human or animal
-has content that degrades or impugns the dignity of humans or animals.**
*By “suffering”, I mean gratuitous depictions of (or actual recordings of the real thing) severe, protracted torment of sentient beings, such as photos/scenes of rape or torture. Quick “Hollywood” murders onscreen obviously don’t fall into this category. Context is also important. The suffering in Schindler’s List or Saving Private Ryan has redeeming academic and social merit. Pulp Fiction or Inglourious Basterds [sic]? Nope.

**E.g., videos of terrorist beheadings, of victims of 9/11, of child abuse, “crush videos”, many types of porn, etc.

May I add pictures of snakes to the list? If there’s an article that involves snakes and I want to read it, I have to go into the settings on Firefox and turn off images.

Ok, that’s officially strange.

I just saw the video I was unwilling to watch a couple of days ago, because Stephen Colbert played it, twice, on his show tonight. I almost turned it off, but I dedcided that it couln’t be TOO gruesome if it played on popular TV. It was in fact pretty damn gruesome, but not as bad as I imagined it would be. The freeze frame image was even worse than the still accompanying the first article I saw about the goring.

How so? It’s extreme, I admit, but most phobias are. (Cute cartoon snakes don’t bother me – like Sir Hiss in the Disney version of Robin Hood)

But I’ve always been terrified of snakes – I can’t watch movies with snakes, or look at pictures, anything. (When we were kids, my cousin LOVED to chase me with pictures of snakes!)

That one stayed with me to… Ill never look at a lotus pod the same way.

Makes sense to me to avoid those videos. I have this plane crash phobia so I don’t want to see them in videos.

I don’t like seeing anything violent, no deaths, not even fake ones. Human or other animal. I think I may be a little phobic about that too. I made the rotten dot com mistake years ago and it messed with me.

I’m okay as long as the person is still alive, as long as I know there’s going to be a happy ending. The matador video wasn’t too bad. When I saw that I know I groaned and my toes curled tight, but it won’t stick with me when I’m trying to sleep tonight. Those images I saw on that website will never leave my memory.

I won’t click on a link if I suspect that it’s got human death occurring in it. Fortunately, I have a slow computer, so even if I’m getting snookered, I usually see the subject in the banner that shows up at the top of the screen. Then I’ll bail out and report it as a snuff film.

Really? Ages ago someone sent me a link called Tubgirl, and it linked to a video of

Two hot asian girls sitting in a bathtub taking turns vomiting on each other and giggling.

I always thought when people mentioned the infamous tubgirl that’s what they were talking about. Apparently whoever it was that pranked me sent me the wrong video. Still gross, but not as gross as the real tubgirl.
