This is exactly to the point. For a lot of people who won’t admit it, lissener’s transgression was one of aesthetics, not of morals - cats are cute, the things killed in slaughterhouses are not, what he did is unforgivable (she hissed between bites of a cheeseburger).
haaaaaaaaaa!!!
It’s always a good time when somebody tries to tell me what I -really- think.
The distinction you draw doesn’t matter. In the end what Lissener did was a shitty thing to do. YMMV as to whether that registers on anyone’s particular morality scale.
Whatever.
If my dislike of cruelty to animals makes me a d-bag, I can live with that.
A HOUSE-Cat does not live outdoors and defiantly not in a cold region. They are pets to live indoors. If they live indoors for all their life, they are not able to live outdoors.
To prove my point, just try this:
Take your shoes and socks off and go outside for a short 30min walk.
Since your feet where designed to walk on, you don’t need shoes, right?
Not disagreeing that he shouldn’t have done this, but if you’re someone who enjoys the occasional lobster, you have no room to talk.
Your user name is d-bag. Maybe you should change it.
Because lobsters are human companions, when?
You got something to say to Clampy?
Well, it’s not actually d-bag. If you would have used your spectacles you could properly read, but then again you might be to dim to understand it.
Dinnertime!
The idea that being a carnivore makes it OK to abuse companion animals is moronic. Or that whatever we do to one it is OK to do to another. Smashing a mosquito who lands on my arm is one thing. Crushing someone’s pet canary who does the same is another thing altogether.
I want to hear more about the lobsters screaming please.
Yes, “cooking pot”.
Suffering is suffering, be it a lobster or a cat (and frankly I find lobsters cuter than cats). I’m an omnivore and I recognize the ethical ramifications of this - what lissener did was obviously wrong, but also pretty insignificant in the scheme of things. There’s just no need for people to get so redundantly worked up about all this.
I think you are misidentifying good old healthy venting as being “redundantly worked up”.
.
If a carnivore has no room to talk, why is what **lissener **did wrong?
Clearly, what Lissener did doesn’t rise to whatever level your particular outrage meter is set to. For others it does. That doesn’t mean those people (myself included) are wrong or that they shouldn’t get “worked up” about it.
Making assumptions about what people really think and then preaching to them about how they shouldn’t think that isn’t the way to go.
As far as being redundant, new people show up in the the thread for the first time and then it sort of flares up again.
I know I risk a dressing down by sticking my nose in here, but I would just like to point out that as a fan of MOL’s humor, I am pretty certain she was just joking with you and assuming you were of the same kind of humor.
