Lissner, This Pit Is For You.

Lissener is an asshole and deserves every bit of scorn tossed his way.

Merry Fucking Christmas, Lissener.

Hmmm…A cat will easily find its way back home if it’s tossed out the door, unless it doesn’t want to be there anymore. Lissener doesn’t say that the cat begged to come back in and he ignored it. The cat left and chose not to return. Based on decades of cat ownership and fostering, I’d say the odds are extremely good that the cat found itself another family to take care of it. Not to say that it wasn’t an asshole thing to do, but that’s what Lissener’s original thread was about. People abandon pets who really can’t fend for themselves all the time. Lissener tossed his cat in outdoor timeout and the cat ditched him.

No the cat did not “ditch” him, he tossed it out (it’s what he should have done with his trash not a living creature ). He had a responsibility for the animals in his care. He failed to care for his snakes, he failed to care for his cat - a task most 9 year olds can do.
What Lissner did was immature and asinine

Oh right. Blame it on the dumb animal instead of the dumb human.

No, I’m saying I think there’s a good chance that the cat found itself another home. Lissener doesn’t say that Gladys even meowed at the door to come back in. My cats meow to come back in within minutes of going outside, even if they’re not ready to come back in yet (they actually have their own pet door; I have no idea why they meow for me to let them in, and then won’t come in when I open the door for them). If his cat didn’t meow to come back in then I’m guessing it moved on to greener households. Cats aren’t stupid. I’m not saying it wasn’t an asshole thing to do.

One cold winters night about 16 years ago I found my late cat huddled with another kitten on my back step, both could have been no older than a few weeks.

The other kitten was dead but I nursed MY cat back to health, I stayed up all night with her and eventually she feel asleep in my arms.

Eccles, for that was her name, grew into a super dooper cat and I loved her dearly for she was a fighter, no-way was she going to go without putting up a hellova fight to live.

Eccles died last year, she had a good innings and I’m not afraid to say that I cried buckets when she died.

How lissner could toss his cat out into the snow is beyond me, I can but hope she found someone to take care of her/him just as I took care of Eccles.

Lissner you are a twat

There is not a good chance that the cat found another home. It doesn’t matter if the cat did or didn’t meow at the back door just like your cats do, one way or another it obviously wandered away and from that point on things aren’t likely to have turned out well for it. Sure there’s a chance it found a warm home. There’s also a chance that I’ll win the lottery. But I’d be a fool to expect to win the lottery and you’d be a fool to expect that any given cat, thrown out into the snow, would find a home in the short time it has available before it dies. Cats can’t go very long without food before their liver shuts down.

A cat on the street has a chance if it’s feral and has learned to fend for itself, or maybe a house cat tossed out in spring or summer when there’s prey available and time to adjust. A house cat thrown into the cold of winter is most likely fucked and to pretend otherwise is fucking stupid.

Why don’t you go murder him then? You know you want to.

This is totally irrelevant to the thread. What’s under discussion is lissener’s actions, not the ultimate destiny of the animal. I sincerely doubt that lissener was thinking, “Farewell, cat, and best of luck finding a new home right soon” as he chucked his pet out the door. His act was malicious and vicious, motivated by anger, and it is despicable for those reasons. If the cat managed to live, it was through good fortune, and doesn’t redeem lissener in any way.

Dude, that’s a stupid comment. We’re talking about scorn on a message board, not actual
ill intent. If you can’t figure that out, you’re pretty fucking dumb.

I have had many, many cats over the years, and I’ve never had one that exhibited that kind of behavior. I bonded with every single one of them, even though with a few it took a while. Cats give back whatever they have gotten.

And I can’t help wondering . . . Considering Lissener’s history of living in squalor, did the cat even have a litter box? And if it did, how often was it cleaned?

Sounds like what I said.

I didn’t realize we weren’t allowed to comment on the ultimate condition of the cat unless we believe it died. Sorry, I’ll go reread the rules.

I’m still trying to figure out why lissener posted his story in the first place. I wonder if subconsciously he was sorry for what he did and was looking for punishment. If he didn’t feel some shame, why use the words “malicious, deliberate, and cruel”? Those aren’t the words you use unless you know you’re wrong. And why admit you’re wrong unless you think you deserve to be corrected?

If I really cared . . . I would go back and document Lissener’s threads that cast him in a less-than-stellar light. We’ve got the cat one, the living in squalor and losing everything one . . . and I’m sure, many others. It seems that periodically he has to show us an unsavory side of himself, in order for us to think less of him. He puts his worst foot forward, sort of like he’s admitting how fucked up he is, before we have a chance to point it out. I’ve known other people like this, and it just gets tiring after a while.

lissener’s ex-cat hasn’t gotten due credit for its intelligence. All that malicious, cathollish behavior was for a reason.

“Criminy! I’ve done every nasty thing I could think of, and I still have to live in this wretched apartment with lissener!! What haven’t I done? I could try pissing in the saucepan…whee, that did it! HURRAH! Now I can go live with that nice family down the street.”

Ha ha, no. Gladys was a cat-sicle before sundown. Choke on THAT, Dopers!

So… have any of you nutjobs in this thread seriously never done anything that you knew was fucked up at the time, did it anyway, believe it is fucked up in hindsight, but still don’t care? Did this action, if any, involve a human, or a cat?

If I knew it was fucked up before hand I wouldn’t have done it, If after doing it I thought it was fucked up - I would have regretted it
It seems the only " nutjobs" here are those who knowingly do fucked up things and don’t care

Yeah.

Just because you can’t be bothered to show a sense of proportion doesn’t mean I can’t call you out on it, nimrod.
