I actually snaffled this off of chowhound.com, but I’m going to make some additions, and so I guess it’s partly my work, too…

Korean: Sejong on Bloor West (lots of other Korean in area, this is best value)

Chinese
Yummy Yummy Kitchen truck ( It parks outside #1 Edward St (where it joins Yonge 1 block north of dundas on west side of Yonge). -Singapore Noodles , Shanghai noodles

Jing Peking (College near Bathurst) - Northern dim sum, hot & sour soup

Tiger Lily’s Noodle House- actually pan-Asian, and veg friendly. Very good.

Tea Shops
The Red Tea Box(Queen, past Bathurst)- I had to include this, even though it’s not cheap. High quality tea, pastries, and chocolates.

Matahari on Baldwin
Jean’s on Danforth

Vietnamese:

Saigon Star (at Hwy 7 between Bayview and Leslie)
curry dungeness crab
Pho Hung- my favorite. Two locations, both downtown.
Dai Nam (on Spadina in Chinatown)
Xe Lua (W side of Spadina a bit south of Dundas - train on sign)

BBQ - DiPammo’s (College and Ossington)- Incredible, real barbeque.

Laotian
Ban Vanipha (Dundas West and Dennison)

Cambodian
Royal Angkor (Yonge just south of Rosedale subway) -Spicy To-Fu

Indian Chaat –
Five Star Market (Parliament St. south of Wellesley on the east side) – boondas and vada

Pakistani
Lahore Tikka House (Gerrard )

Sri Lankan
Rashnaa (Wellesley)

Uncategorizable - New York Subway (Queen St. West 1 block east of Bathurst)
gourmet Indian influenced burritos (get the jumbo ones)- also amazing. One of my favorite places.

Mexican –
El Sol (way out east on the Danforth) - chicken mole, vegetarian combo

Central American - Kensington Market places on Augusta -fresh pupusas and tamales.

Caribbean
Mr. Jerk (Wellesley between Sherbourne and Parliament) -jerk chicken dinner and jerk pork sandwiches
Flava (Yonge St., just north of Wellesley) - goat roti, homemade hot sauce

Burgers
Groucho’s (Bayview, south of Eglington):
Lick’s Burger(Scarborough)

Pasta -One of a Kind Bar and Grill (Queen W)

Delis
Centre Street Deli (Centre St in Thornhill)
smoked meat sandwich, french fries, cole slaw, pickles,chicken matzo ball soup, chopped liver, Montreal bagels.

Eastern European
cabbage rolls – Country Style Hungarian Restaurant (Bloor in the Annex, about three blocks down from Bathurst)
pierogis - Future Cafe and Bakery, (couple more blocks down the street) potato and cheese ones are all you can eat on Wednesday night

ice-cream
La Paloma –exceptional/very expensive, and very, very good
