It certainly wasn’t intended in that way! I used dis-ease because many of the things we suffer from aren’t actually diseases, but are disorders of various kinds. Me? Woo? Bwahahahaa.
I can do you a super deal!! Two packets of specially-blessed-by-a-psuedo-shaman pseudo-crystals for the price of ONE! Get in quick!!
Bilateral patellar tendonitis
Bilateral plantar fasciitis
Chronic sesamoiditis (big toe joint is all jacked up)
Hallux rigidus (seriously, I hate my big toe joint)
Trochanteric bursitis (which at least gives me the excuse to use the word trochanteric; it’s my right hip and caused by my left foot problems)
Strabismus
Tinnitus
Not here to brag, but I must be a genetic abnormality. I’m 46, and have never been diagnosed with anything (unless you count nearsightedness), nor do I take medication. Threads like this make me feel very lucky/fortunate.
If you don’t have one, try to get to a reputable Rheumatologist who treats these things often. I also discuss it with my Dermatologist, Ophthalmologist, Dentist, and Internist but the Rheumy is the main guy for this. Yes, it’s incurable, but you can treat many of the more annoying symptoms with moisturizing drops, oils, and special mouthwash and toothpaste. And the meds I take for Lupus and lifestyle modifications help keep flares in what’s sort of like a remission. Lately, it hasn’t been as bad. And I’ve only had one flare that was real serious, so far. I just have to be real careful about getting enough rest, avoid too much physical or emotional stress, and use sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses. I’m the only one on the beach who’s laying under my towel.
You are. Enjoy it. I hope, for your sake, that that situation lasts many, many more years for you. I used to think that people who said, “If you’ve got your health, you’ve gotten everything” were Pollyanna idiots. Not anymore.
All I have is the standard mix of Diabetes and high blood pressure and cholesterol problems. Triple bypass 8 years ago with a prognosis of 50% chance of living 5 more years etc… Also the old tired penis doesn’t wish to stand up any more! BUt I have been told that has more to do with the mix of daily drugs that I swallow. I am presently 68 years old.
Anemia (under control)
Essential Tremors
Migraines (mostly controlled)
Oddly the biggest threat to my life is probably the tremors. I’m getting clumsier every year and I don’t bounce the way I used to. There are medications but the doc’s have all assured me I’ll be happier if I wait as long as possible to start taking them. Like Shakes my handwriting is illegible and eating is a bit of an adventure some days. I have recently discovered that alcohol seems to suppress the tremors so at least at social occasions I’m fairly stable.
Hmmm. I can give the OP a run for his (and his doctors’) money:
Asthma
Hypothyroidism
Hypertension
Restless Legs Syndrome
Sleep apnea
Excessive daytime sleepiness
Allergies
Gastroesophageal reflux
High cholesterol
Osteoarthritis (knees)
Plantar fasciitis
Rotator cuff issues
Prediabetes
Peripheral neuropathy (unrelated to above, as far as we can tell)
Colon polyps (arguably; I’ve had 'em removed several times)
My goodness. I’d thought I had too many health problems, but some of you struggle with much, much worse. The fact that you’re here and posting is inspiring.
My chronic health problems:
Major Depression/Bipolar 2 (my newest psychiatrist is waffling; it’ll probably end up being changed to Major Depression)
Severe anxiety
ADD (not diagnosed until I was well out of college)
Dermatillomania (compulsive skin picking)
Asthma (very mild)
High blood pressure
Obesity (though I did lose 25lbs in the last several months)
Obstructive sleep apnea (requires a CPAP)
Back pain (combination of arthritis and spinal stenosis; has gotten slightly better since I lost a little weight)
Tendinitis in my hands (most often), shoulders, and elbows
I am taking medication for some of these with varying degrees of success. At the moment I seem to be pretty stable, though I did have an incident with my meds this last weekend that almost sent me to the emergency room. So maybe I shouldn’t get too complacent just yet. :smack:
