Literature professor solves mystery of the Shroud of Turin?

A literature professor in Idaho has claimed to have found the method by which The Shroud of Turin could have been manufactured in Medieval timeswebsite . While The story has gotten some media attention, nothing close to the media pile on that happens every time someone comes up with a new wave to claim they can prove the shroud is real.

My question then is could Professor Wilson’s glass cloth over a painted glass pane out in the sun method work? What are the implications of the 3-d effects the shroud enthusiasts always point out?

I am interested in a general questions answer to these questions so I have posted here rather then GD.

Didn’t a person already prove this was quite plasible in the mid 90s?

No, wait, from the site, it looks like a diffrent method. * Interesting.*

There was a terrific episode of the PBS series “Secrets of the Dead” not long ago about the SoT. It was 2-hours long, and if you’re familiar with that show they produce it like a “CSI” type crime show, with lots of good photography (especially in HiDef). If you get a chance to see it, or can download something from their website, do so. The show presents several different methods that a medieval forger could have used to produce the SoT.

There was a bit of discussion on this topic about three weeks ago in the Shroud of Turin forgery thread.
