Litestep - A step above Windows Explorer

Windows Explorer is, let’s face it, boring. When compared to some of the feats that Linux shells and MacOSX can accomplish with their GUIs, Windows is a distant third. But fear not, Microsoft minions! There is hope. Litestep is a shell for Windows Explorer, and it is suited to any level of technical expertise. Even the most basic modules of the program give the user more control over the desktop than Windows. You can download one of the hundreds and hundreds of Litestep themes that other people have made – just browse WinCustomize or DeviantArt to find some of the best ones. Right now, I’m using one called Gemini. Instead of a taskbar, I have little blue gray boxes that I can drag anywhere I want on the screen.

For the more technically inclined, you can of course write your own theme. This also can be as simple or complicated as necessary: you can choose from standard modules, or you can create a theme with custom graphics.

I’m sure some of you have discovered this or other similar programs before. I would be eager to here about other such programs and their advantages/disadvantages.
