Little Big Man

Little Big Man will finally be released on DVD on April 29th. I’ve got my pre-order in.

Cool!

Great movie.

If you haven’t read the book, check it out too. I’m a big fan of both versions.

“Snake eyes…”

"Your name’s not LulaBelle, you’re Louise Pendrake!"

I hope for good extras. I love that movie.

Today is a good day to die.

(not really!)

Louise Pendrake: "Well, Jack. Now you know. This is a house of ill fame. And I’m a fallen flower. This life is not only wicked and sinful, it isn’t even any fun."

Old Lodge Skins: "I’ve never been invisible before!"

Allardyce T. Merriwhether: "Licked?! I’m not licked. I’m tarred and feathered, that’s all."

I LOVE THIS MOVIE! Thanks for the great news!

“Sometimes the magic works, sometimes it doesn’t.”

“That was the end of my religion period.”

“We can’t have a man like you in the White House!”

Book and movie are both personal favorites of mine.

This is wonderful news. Have introduced both book and movie to my kids, can’t wait to get the DVD.
I remember this film as one of (if not the) first movies I saw in which Native Americans are indeed portrayed as ‘human beings.’

“God bless George Washington, now what kind of fool Injun would say ‘God Bless George Washington?’”

“That was the best bath I ever had.”

“I have a wife and four horses!”

“I have a horse and four wives.”

“Ain’t that boy clean yet?”
I haven’t read the sequel, but I’ve heard it’s just as good.

When I was little, one of my favorite toys was a General Custer action figure (Best of the West toy series- if you’re under 35 you won’t remember them). LITTLE BIG MAN was what first made him stop being my hero… then the miniseries Centennial sort of cemented the “soldiers weren’t necessarily the good guys…” notion.

The other big memory: the really affected “Aw gross! Jeez!” lines of the guys in my 6th grade class at the “would you like to come into my tipi and sleep on soft furs?” line from LittleDog.

Yeah, you know 6th grade is about the time boys start getting the poison.

“Poison. From the goonads.”

"Every business has a particle of risk."- Allardyce T. Meriweather

The movie was just far too long. And I suppose it was/ is favourable to make Custer look like a moron.

:frowning:

I didn’t think he looked like a moron so much as he looked like a megalomaniac, which he was. One of the coldest lines in movie history: “Your miserable life is not worth the reversal of a Custer decision.”

A less cold line: “Olga never did learn much English, but she had sure as hell picked up Cheyenne.”
