Where can I find a list of all those little known tax write offs.
Your own location would be a good start.
Most tax write-offs are very specific to a situation, business, or occupation. If you were in one of those you talk to your accountant. If you don’t have an accountant you probably don’t make enough money to qualify for the write-off or benefit from one if it did exist.
Sorry.
The biggest reason they are little known is because they are of little use, to most folks anyway. As Exapno Mapcase said so well.
There’s no big conspiracy to hide these goodies from you honest income tax payers. A group that I’m pleased to say I’m no longer a member of. It’s all spelled out fully and carfully in the tax codes, of which you can probably get at your local library. Which is the answer to your question.
Now just toodle on out there come Monday and get back to work. We retirees are depending on you.

It’s too late for 2003 but here’s a tip that could help in future years.
Transfer to me all your interest or dividend paying savings accounts, stocks and bonds. Not only will you no longer have to pay tax on that income, you will not have to waste time writing those amounts on tax forms.
Everything you need to know about income tax is in Publication 17. It is available, free, from your friendly IRS by telephone or via the internet.
