Little things that have made you happy recently

Tourist season is upon us here in Santa Fe. Yesterday I was down around the main touristy area (because the library is right there as well), and ended up stopping at Subway. The guy behind the counter, for no particular reason, said, “I’ve seen you in here before, I’ll give you a discount.” Twenty percent off my sub! It’s a little thing, and I dropped some change in the tip jar, which I don’t normally do. But it was just one of those little things that makes your day and leaves you with a smile.

Anyone else?

A few years ago, for my friend’s birthday, I gave her a fairly crappy little voucher that I made up on my computer. The voucher was good for one homecooked lasagne, with salad and red wine, to be redeemed at her leisure. Of course I made good on the offer when she redeemed it.

This popped up in discussion recently, and she said that it was one of the most thoughtful gifts she’d been given. That made me feel pretty good.

Every time I think about how I will finally finish college this Thursday I feel all warm and fuzzy.

In amongst the big happy-making things recently (Marriage, Honeymoon).

On our honeymoon, one of the hotel pools had a waterslide in it, I had not been on a waterslide in probably 15 years or more.

I was grinning like an idiot child as I went down that thing again and again

Recently I moved and then went Back Home for a week.

Got internet at home in only two weeks; I’ve moved a lot, often across national borders, and this is pretty normal - but the previous time, it took almost two months, so I was very happy about it.

Since I was going home the next day, I didn’t jump back into my usual WoW characters until I came back from the trip. I also didn’t post here at all during the week I was home. There were people here asking about me! Gave me warm and fuzzy feelings… and then when I entered WoW the guildies were all going “hey, Nava is back! how was the move?” and asking me to join groups, so I’m all warm’n’fuzzied up

A few really pleasant dreams I’ve had lately.

Summer’s here and I’m slowly starting some good fitness habits.

It’s the 100th Manx TT in a week.

I’m having a mate coming to visit today and another friend should be joining us both for dinner. Both of them are excellent to be around.

A few hours will also be spent in a pub, which is always lovely when you have good company.

ETA:

Couple of weeks back I got in touch with one of my oldest mates in the world - we’d kinda fallen out of touch for no reason whatsoever - and arranged to go for a drink. Got to the pub early and ended up bumping into another old mate of mine and exchanged mobile numbers. Then while drinking with the first mate, yet another person I’d not seen for years popped in. Result!

It was 'im indoors birthday last week and we’d had a night out to celebrate. Come Saturday afternoon we were just starting to think about what to do for the evening when I got an sms from a friend we’d not seen for ages. He was asking us if we’d like to join him, his g/f and a couple of other friends round at our local pub for a few drinks.

A very nice surprise, and it turned out to be a fun evening. Just being thought of for things like that makes me happy.

Himself told me that all the extra work he’s been doing lately is so he can save up and buy me a nice digital SLR. ::swoon::

I was feeling on top o’the world a couple of weeks back (new romance  ), when I saw a necklace in a jewellers window that I thought a girl at work would like for her birthday. Normally I wouldn’t do anything about it (I’m her boss, don’t want to send the wrong message etc ) but i was in a great mood and wanted to share.

Had a week off, came back and noticed she was wearing it. She tells me it’s her favourite piece of jewellry and wears it every day.

Yay I’ve got taste

I had just brought the rescued puppy home from her walk. She went right back to the door, but I told her “Not now, you were just outside.”

She stood on her hind legs, thumped her front paws onto the door, and turned to me with a look that clearly conveyed “Human, this has to happen RIGHT NOW!

I took her back outside and she had serious diarrhea.

What makes this a happy story is that we’ve been housetraining her, and this time she clearly understood the concept and communicated her need. She’s feeling better now – and it’s been a month without any “accidents” at all.

My wife emailed me today kind of out of the blue and told me what a great hubby I was! It is not like I don’t feel appreciated by her any other time, but to hear it from her gave me the warm-fuzzies.

My husband kissed me this morning and said “How’s my pretty girl?” And I could tell that he meant it, too.

After 27 years of marriage, it is so delightful that this man still thinks I am pretty.

A couple of nights ago, I put my very best sheets on the bed (1,000 thread count Egyptian cotton). Then I took a shower and shaved my legs. Climbed into bed; the feel of those sheets on my smooth legs, bliss. Sheer bliss.

I had an absolutely bloody awful commute home, and the husband coincidentally had baked choc-chip cookies with which to soothe my spirits (well, he started baking before my awful commute, but it was still very nice.)

Last night, my husband made a batch of yummy chili and I made a Caesar salad. We ate outside while the sky got dark and the garden lights came on with our little citronella candles flickering in the breeze. Ah. It was like a little slice of summer.
