Little things that made you happy today

I love this thread. I need little happinesses!

I started a book club about 19 years ago. We’ve had people come and go, but we’re at 6 now. 3 original members. I can’t tell you how important these people are to me.

In anticipation of the winter months, I just planted some cyclamen in a big planter pot. The nursery had some cyclamen that’s a deep bing cherry red, and I planted three of them alternating with three white ones. Together, they give the effect of cherries and whipped cream. They’re a happy splash of vivid color outside my kitchen window.

I’m frequently made happy by volunteering as a Scoutmaster. Last weekend we went to a scout camp in the Catskills and the scouts got a chance to try their hand at shooting sports. The big hit, plinking cans and little targets with bb guns, interspersed with games of Go Fish.

My favorite part was the afternoon free time before dinner. A bunch of scouts went to a secluded spot off of our campsite, and next to the lake. I brought a couple of adults over there, who hadn’t seen the spot before, and we all spent about a half hour just hanging out. The kids are chatting, making an impromptu fishing pole, skipping stones, the adults are sitting on the boulders taking in the sun. Just the nicest little moment.
