My choir’s performance of Mahler’s 2nd Symphony (‘Auferstehungs’/‘Resurrection’) will be broadcast live from the Sydney Opera House next Monday night (28 November), in a concert starting at 7.00pm* Australian eastern daylight saving time. We’ll be singing with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Vladimir Ashkenazy.
I really love Mahler 2. I haven’t sung it since 2004, so it’s great to get back into it. The choir doesn’t have a lot to do (we don’t come in until about the 75th minute mark and then sing for only 10 minutes or so), but what we do have is lovely.
This time round we’re doing four performances and it’s the fourth performance that’s being broadcast. We had the first performance on Wednesday night. The review was positive, though not much was said about the choir.
