Live Performance Traditions

What are your favorite live performance traditions? Meaning something that isn’t a part of the studio recording but usually occurs during a band’s (or other media you can come up with) performance.

My favorite example is the crowd singing along with the guitar interlude in Master of Puppets by Metallica.

Crowd singing with Guitar Interlude Link to 3:20, 3:38 James says “you know what to do”, 3:40 crowd sings along with the guitar part.

What are your favorites?

Singing ‘Land of Hope & Glory’ in Elgar’s Pomp & Circumstance.

Standing for the Hallelujah Chorus in Handel’s Messiah.

The raised fist punch at the end of “Biko” by Peter Gabriel.

In Baltimore, yelling “O’s” during the national anthem, at “Oh say can you see.”

Not just at baseball games, it happens almost every time the anthem is performed.
