This happened about 2 years ago. It was your typical FOX special.
They opened a couple of never found before tomb. They last one they opened, the one with the most potential was flooded with water.
Of course they opened this tomb with about 4 minutes left in the show. They stated they had never seen anything like this before and were excited to drain the site and discover what was under the water.
Does anyone know what transpired?
If I remember correctly, it was pretty much a big steaming load of nothing.
Didn’t they end up finding Al Capone’s treasure in there?
It was either that, or not much of anything.
I remember something like that, where they had a robot crawling through a tight tunnel. The big suspense was what was behind a door or hatch. They removed to find another hatch (woo!). I don’t remember any water, and seems like only about a year ago, so I bet this was a different show.
Your memory matches mine more closely than the OP. As you said, perhaps they are different shows…
Yeah, Revtim, you are thinking of the follow-up to the original show. In the first, they explored the tunnels with a little robot, and found the hatch. Then they made a extension for that rover that could look thru a crack in the hatch and see to the other side, where they found(!)…the other hatch.
Both these shows turned up pretty much nothing new except a few new mummies, (which is almost a daily occurance during an excavation).
Actually the “robot” episode was just recently (within 6 months).
Like I said in the original post it was like 2 years ago when this first live FOX special aired.

The Fox TV network teamed with the National Geographic Channel and did the program Pyramids Live: Secret Chambers Revealed last September. Some good shots of the robot in the shaft here.
I hate to say this since I find most archaeology interesting, but it really shouldn’t be shown live as so much of it is very slow careful work and study.
