The American Indian Movement (AIM) seems to be well organized, or at least used to be. I had a friend who went to uni with me in Texas, and he was from Minnesota. His mother was part Indian but only a very small percentage of the mix. My friend said back during that whole reoccupation of Wounded Knee, South Dakota in 1973, a representative actually telephoned her – in Minnesota – about lending her support and emphasizing her Indian (Native American, whatever you want to call it) heritage. She was astonished to find that she was on some sort of list.
