Oh well, it’s too bad because Exile in Guyville is such a phenomenal album. I’ll probably buy this one too, just because. I saw the video this morning on VH1 and it was quite poppy but not intolerably so.
Favorite Liz Phair line is probably “I want all that stupid old shit/Like letters and sodas.”
I bought it last night. I’ve listened to it three times. It will not be necessary for me to retire my copy of Exile in Guyville. Let me get back to you after I’ve listened to it a couple more times.
(Entertainment Weekly gave it a fairly positive review.)
Favorite line was “It’s true that i stole your lighter and it’s also true that i lost the map. but when you said that I wasn’t worth talking to I had to take your word on that.”.
Also referring to someone as “fucking like a volcano” is pretty damn vivid in a great way.
Yeah, I don’t always listen to pitchforkmedia.com, since they’re extremely snobby, but 0.0 is pretty solid. I’m wary. And then after hearing that the Matrix not only produced, but wrote at least one song on the album, I don’t think I’ll exactly be seeking out tracks from this one.
I’ve heard “Why Can’t I”, and I was pretty horrified. I love Liz Phair, but I never would have recognized it as her. I hope that this pop thing works for her, but if that first single is any indication, I won’t be buying this album.
