I just don’t get it. Doctors are supposed to be trained in science.
(Flagged for title spelling correction)
Ivermectin is a very safe treatment. If a patient has Covid, then it will do no harm. If they are vaccinated and still get Covid, it will also do no harm. If they refuse to be vaccinated, then also using Ivermectin will again do no harm. It may not prevent or cure. But it does no harm. Doctors can prescribe treatments that are off the intended purpose.
There are a lot of studies on various uses for Ivermectin. None of them seem to show any negative effects.
Some are targeted at antiviral effect. Controversy and censorship are clouding the issue at this time. I hope studies will continue under less strained circumstance.
The article does not detail the circumstance of the patient situations and requests. The Doctor may have thought a harmless or possibly helpful prescription may have had some use. If only psychologial.
Some are trained in veterinary science.
But after the heretic has endured a whole month on thorough gardening leave I’m sure the re-education process will be a complete success.
No the doctor was not prescribing as a maybe. After all it won’t do any harm. The article said he prescribed it for treatment of or prevention of COVID.
Would it be murder if someone died? Hmm?
I can shoot water in me instead of my insulin. Probably won’t hurt me. But it certainly won’t help me.
Ivermectin is NOT a treatment for COVID.
If a patient has Covid, they can infect others - and also die.
If they refuse to be vaccinated, they are destroying herd immunity.
You might as well say ‘Doing nothing is safe.’
Did not say it is.
Even if vaccinated. Though less likely.
Maybe. But it has been admitted that Vaccination does not fully prevent infection or transmission. But it may help.
Not to mention the doctor fully fed his patients a line of bullshit. Lied to them most likely.
No telling the harm he caused.
I suspect they can’t track it or he would get higher charges.
I got vaccinated and still got it, according to testing. I am vaccinated for more things than most folks. I definitely believe in the efficacy of vaccines. But I did not think the MRNA ones were the best solution as they were formulated. I hope a better solution will be found. Maybe a different formulation/method of MRNA or another type of vaccine.
If a patient presents with Covid to a doctor and is not in serious medical distress. There is little that the Doctor can prescribe.
You posted “Ivermectin is a very safe treatment. If a patient has Covid, then it will do no harm.”
As Beckdawrek pointed out
So prescribing Invermectin instead of vaccination is doing great harm - both to the patient and the community.
Which is the entire point of vaccination!
Literally millions of lives have been saved by vaccination.
None by Invermectin.
No, that’s a fact.
It’s not an ‘admission’ - that is precisely how vaccination works.
I repeat that millions of lives have been saved by vaccination.
That is perfectly sensible - I honestly don’t understand why you compared Invermectin to vaccination.
I did not.
Paxlovid.
I know, since this is anecdotal, several people have had a greatly reduced length and severity of the virus with Paxlovid.
Chemo doesn’t always cure cancer but we still use it because some are cured or given more time.
Ivermectin will get rid of your worms.
BTW I had a dog who got very sick with one dose of wormer, I’m fairly certain it was Ivermectin. So it’s not harmless.
Wait until you hear how many people get prescribed antibiotics for obvious viral infections–mainly just to get them to shut up and go away.
At least ivermectin doesn’t exacerbate antibiotic resistance or kill off gut flora.
I don’t wanna know what Ivermectin would do to my stomach after seeing what’s it’s done to dogs at the shelter. I used to mop kennels as a volunteer. I also knew who had the worse case of worms that morning.
It sucks.
I picked up intestinal worms many years ago on a tropical vacation, and was prescribed two rounds of Ivermectin. It sucked. Acid and bloating like the most obnoxious attack of heartburn and gas I can imagine. I could barely function.
But it sure killed the shit out of the worms.
The shit outta the worms or the worms outta the shit?
I assume both, but considering the volcanic firehose of nuclear diarrhea that followed, I did not inspect the output closely and cannot confirm.
True. And lawyers are supposed to be honest. And pilots are supposed to stay awake. Doesn’t always happen.
Anti-vax pro-Ivermectin nonsense propaganda has filled many people’s heads with pure toxic concentrated bullshit.
The article makes clear that this suspension was in response to a repeated pattern of doing this for multiple patients. So this almost certainly was not a matter of a sensible doc placating a deluded fool of a patient. More likely the doc himself is the deluded fool.
As to the “it’s harmless, so no harm done” crowd … Wrong. Flat wrong.
Pretending to treat [whatever] crowds out the opportunity to actually treat that same [whatever] in that patient. Thereby directly harming the patient
In the case of non-infectious [whatevers] you’re only cheating the patient, whoever / whatever is paying for the fake treatment(s), and anyone who cares about the patient’s well-being, from family to employees to cow-orkers. So a fairly small circle, but perhaps a crucial one.
Conversely, for infectious [whatevers], now the circle of people harmed by fake treatments widens to “everyone”. More close contacts than somebody halfway across the province, much less halfway across the world. But as we all have clearly seen, infectious disease knows no geographical limits.
It’s hard for me to understand what this means, other than potentially that you don’t like the outcomes of the dozens of studies that you can find on research gate. They are usually randomized and double blind, and you don’t have to read every one of them, because there are also meta-analysis of those studies available on research gate.
