Local High School collecting food

There was a haunted walk Friday night for the kid set.(it was mild)

They collected cans at a table. My daughter said it was a faith based group.

It was well advertised so they had a big drive for their pantry.

I was going to mention this. I’m not sure where the donations in the OP are going, to a large food bank or a smaller operation. You can definitely do more with the same amount if you are donating to a large food bank - they can often get lower prices with bulk purchasing but my little parish food pantry isn’t going to get discounts for buying in huge amounts. They’ll get the same food for the money as I would ( or maybe less, since I have a warehouse club membership) but if they get cash donations, they have to find someone to shop for the food. Same thing for the food pantry we had at one of my jobs - if someone donated cash, someone else would have to shop on their own time ( since it wasn’t run by my employer. )

Our food banks use cash donations to buy perishables and depend on donations for non perishables. Some of our food banks also use cash donations to help out with people’sw utility bills.

Please stay on topic, that post is not.

We have a local organization here that keeps the county school system’s food pantry stocked. I’d already been giving them donations - they send out a list of what they want/need the most - but this month I’m going to double what I normally give them.
