Dog’s crew steals money and pot from Snow White & the Three Little Chemists. The guys steal money and pot from Dog’s crew. After counting the money, while at the bar, Tom (IIRC) remarks that after paying off Hatchett Harry, they’ll be up £200K apiece. So that’s (£200K + £25K) x 4 = £900K. Add Harry’s £500K, and that’s £1.4M stolen by, and from, Dog’s crew.
Then Rory Breaker & crew gets in a shootout w/ Dog’s crew, Dog makes a run for it, and Big Chris takes the money & guns from Dog. Big Chris then delivers £500K “to the Pound” to Hatchett Harry. Where did that extra £900K go? Is that why Big Chris remark that he made “a few quid” off that job?
I never did the math but it makes sense. If he had been informed that Harry was owed a certain amount, then why not just give him what he’s owed? He did have his son count the cash first - so he would have known what he had taken. One problem with this theory is that I’m pretty sure they were factoring in the value of the weed (at the prices offered by the flamer) as well. I forget how much weed they had, but it was alot. I also forget what the price was initially going to be for the weed - it later got dropped by 50% before the flamer (I forget his name) figured out he was buying his own weed.
It was, to be precise, “Copius amounts of ganja, yes?”
and js_africanus, I think you’re right. I never did the math, but as you said, Chris made “a few quid” and if I recall the voiceover correctly, he went into the loan sharking business afterwards. So, he made enough to buy a car, put money away for his son (sure, they never SAY this, but would he really let Little Chris be less secure financially than necessary?), and have enough to front large amounts of cash. Not bad for a days work.
Not related to the film, but did y’all know that Vinnie Jones (the actor who played Big Chris, as well as Bullet Tooth Tony in “Snatch”) holds the world record for quickest to be yellow carded? He was a professional soccer player prior to becoming an actor, and in addition to a dozen red cards, he was yellow carded three seconds into a match.
As a Leeds fan (for whom Vinnie once played), in retrospect I have much more sympathy for his actions on Reid. Only kidding - most of the recent debacle was not Reid’s fault.
Well, he went into loansharking with the WHOLE bag of cash which he recovered when he crashed into their car. When he went to give the bag full of cash back to Harry he discovered the bloodbath and opted to keep the cash instead. So his shy business was banked by the full monty - not some skimmed difference. . .
