As the OP of Hitler's Alternate Universe - Great Debates - Straight Dope Message Board

I understand why Gack was banned but I am at a loss as to why the thread was locked.

Yes, my original “thesis” was pretty lame and uniformed, but over time, it transformed itself into lively exchange of ideas that I was finding illuminating. I’d like you to reopen the thread.

A side issue. Trolls are trolls because intelligent? people react to them. If the informed here merely recognized an asshole for what he is and ignored him, the mods could retire the SWAT team and get back to directing traffic.
