London Knights just won their first Memorial Cup. 4-0 victory over Rimouski Oceanic. Congrats! It’s actually crazy downtown! Go Knights Go!
Keep up the good party, mate.
Is this one of them thar soccer things?
“Rimouski Oceanic”? :dubious:
Now, “London Knights”, that’s a name I could cheer for.
It’s junior hockey – sort of like minor league baseball, I suppose. London is in Ontario, Rimouski is in (far eastern) Quebec.
Aha! Now, hockey I can get behind!
<waves little American and Canadian flags> Go Knights!
More like high school or university football. The players are 15-20 years old, although there’s a restriction on the number of players 19 or older a team can have(I think that the limit is 2 “over-agers”).
The Memorial Cup is the biggest championship in Canadian major-junior hockey. Four teams get to compete for it: the champion from each of the three leagues that comprise the Canadian Hockey League, and the host team.
No surprise the London won it all. They lost just 9 times in 90 games this year – including the regular season, OHL playoffs and the Memorial Cup. They’re truly a great team.
